Prologue

Azusa says Yui must have chosen him because she likes him, that Azusa likes her too, and that pain is good. The other brothers make comments, and Yui wonders if she’ll be alright. A flashback shows Azusa as a child. Although he was saved by a gypsy family, he was still desperate for a reason to live. He eventually found his reason to live when three theiving children from that gypsy family; Justin, Melissa and Christina started constantly beating him (both physically and verbally). Azusa soon grew accustomed to their abuse and began laughing everytime he was beatened. When Azusa encouraged them to continue beating him, it only drove them away in disgust. In the present, Azusa is breathing hard after remembering that time. Yui asks him what’s wrong, but Azusa doesn’t quite answer, only saying the names of his bullies.

Ruki asks Yui if she can understand anything Azusa just said and if she is sure, then leaves her to deal with him. Kou laughs and tells Yui that he will leave the problematic child in her hands. Yui asks Kou to clarify "problematic," and Kou laughs again and tells her Azusa is problematic from every angle. He asks if she’ll rethink her choice. Yuma doesn't say anything, but when Yui calls his name, he tells her not to talk to him and leaves.

Now alone, Azusa asks Yui to hit him. When she refuses, Azusa says she must hate him; even so, Azusa doesn’t hate her, because they are the same. Yui doesn’t understand his meaning, but instead of clarifying, Azusa asks to suck her blood. Despite her protests, he drinks her blood and he tells her they must be the same type of person after all.

Dark No. 01

Azusa calls Yui to his room to see his knife collection. He asks to cut her, and when she refuses, pushes her to cut him instead. Then he sucks her blood and calls her adorable.

No.02

Azusa visits Yui’s room at night because he’s hungry, and Yui fears he wants to drink her blood. Instead, Azusa asks her to follow him downstairs. Azusa says he doesn’t want to eat alone, because he finds that lonely. He cooked chicken for them, but it's extremely spicy and painful when Yui takes a bite. She thanks him and declines to eat the rest, but Azusa finishes his plate. Thirsty now, he asks for Yui’s blood. He bites her before she manages to reply, and the spicy pepper stings her wound.

No.03

Yui scrapes her knee going up the stairs and encounters Azusa in the hall. He takes her to his room and asks how she feels, complimenting the scrape. He blows on it and asks her to hit him if she’s angry. To disinfect it, he licks the scrape, before sucking her blood.

No.04

Yui tries to take a bath and finds Azusa inside. He has a terrible wound on his back, which he asks her to describe and then trace the edge of so he can feel it. After she’s done, he rewards her by licking her fingers and sucking blood from her hand.

No.05

Yui can’t sleep because she hears a strange noise, so she investigates and finds Azusa tied up. She helps him out and asks who did this. He explains he tied himself up to experience pain but then got stuck. He asks Yui to tie him up properly, and when she can’t do it well, models it on her. Once she’s tied up, he sucks her blood from several places. He tells her she won’t be alone because he’ll experience the same pain later.

No.06

Azusa misses dinner, so Yui checks on him and finds him having a terrible nightmare. His throat is dry from sweating in his sleep, so he sucks her blood. As he does so, he asks her if she goes to the others for bloodsucking, which she denies. He says that’s good because she belongs to him. He sucks more blood and wonders aloud why her pained face makes his chest hurt, prompting Yui to comfort him. Azusa won’t answer when she asks about the nightmare, but he does ask Yui to stay with him because nightmares are more common when one sleeps alone. Azusa clings to her and falls asleep right away. Gazing at his face, Yui contemplates what she’s seen.

Dark No. 07

Yui thinks about how she can’t escape because she has nowhere to go, and Azusa asks about her troubled expression; he says she seems lonely. Yui thanks him for noticing, and her attention turns to Azusa’s many scars and wounds. He asks if she wants her blood sucked; she changes the topic to his wounds. He’s bleeding through the bandages, but he doesn’t want to change them. Yui wants to treat them, but he accuses her of trying to take the “children” away from him. His wounds are his friends: Justin, Melissa, and Christina. Yui repeats the names, which pleases Azusa. He gives her a “friend” of her own with his favorite knife. After she catches on, Yui uneasily thanks him, which perplexes Azusa because he can tell she’s upset. In honor of her new "friend", he licks and sucks blood from her cut.

No.08

At school, Yui meets Kanato in the hallway. He tries to kill her, but they’re interrupted by Azusa. Azusa apologizes, but says he won’t allow Yui to be hurt without permission. They run away and hide in a storage room. She thanks him for saving her, but Azusa apologizes for getting in the way of her getting hurt and asks if she’s angry. Of course she isn’t, but the conversation turns to asking if Yui wants to die. She might not be able to escape Kanato… or Azusa, for that matter. He says he’s joking about killing her, and he’s glad Kanato wasn’t chosen. Yui doesn’t understand what he’s talking about. Since he helped, he asks if he can suck her blood. Yui worries Kanato might come, but Azusa doesn’t feel his presence nearby. As he sucks her blood, Azusa tells Yui she’s too important to kill and to think of no one but him.

No.09

Yui overhears people talking about Adam and Eve and cracks the door to better hear. Azusa asks Ruki to cut him or hit him as punishment, but Ruki refuses. Ruki reminds Azusa he’s not at the orphanage anymore, which confuses Yui. Before she hears anything else, Kou and Yuma come up from behind. The brothers disperse, leaving Azusa and Yui alone. She apologizes for eavesdropping, but he just brushes it off. He asks asks her to hurt him because Ruki wouldn't do it. Yui says she can’t; which makes Azusa ask if she hates him. He says he’ll support her; Yui resists. She ends up cutting him in the process, but by accident. After the accident, she tries to treat it for him; but he refuses. Shortly after, he notices a scrape on her hand and sucks her blood.

No.10

Azusa asks Yui to give him more wounds. They’re interrupted by Ruki, who argues with Azusa about his pleading towards Yui. Later, Ruki asks Yui if she’s ever hurt Azusa. Yui admits she has been forced to. Yui asks Ruki about Azusa, and he tells her not to concern herself. He briefly explains that to Azusa, pain is proof of his existence. Thinking about what she’s learned, she goes to the library to do research. There, she encounters Azusa. Yui avoids telling him why she's there. Since she wouldn't tell him, he sucks her blood. Then Azusa says he’s named the wound Yui gave him “Eve”; he asks her to say "Hello" and kiss it. He encourages her to bite and make it hurt; but she refuses. More blood is sucked.

Epilogue

A flashback to the past shows Azusa’s increasingly masochistic mindset. This happened when he managed to find bread for his bullies, only to discover they’d been hanged for stealing from a noble. A police officer who knew that Azusa had been abused by them tries to congratulate him. He thought Azusa finally got his revenge against the three theives and was happy about their deaths. He also tells him to feel relieved, because his bullies won't be able to hurt him anymore, but Azusa only became hysterical with grief. In the present, Azusa wakes up from his dream of the past and wonders if he’ll be able to become Adam. Yui overhears thumping and finds Azusa has hurt himself again. She begs him to stop, but he tells her no one saved Justin and that his wound was starting to disappear. Yui doesn’t know the context, but she realizes how important the wounds are to Azusa. He explains that he had a dream about the days before he was a vampire, which makes Yui ask if he used to be human. Azusa says he was, and he explains about the bullies who used to hurt him gave him a reason to exist. Even though he knew they had treated him horribly, he considered them his 'family' since they had saved him from dying on the streets. Yui doesn’t understand.

Maniac[]

Prologue

The flashback story continues with Azusa wishing he was dead after losing his bullies and his only reason to live. A shopkeeper kicks him for loitering and Azusa asks the shopkeeper to hurt him more and harder. The man brings him to the orphanage in disgust. Once at the orphanage, one orphan tries to befriend Azusa, but others come and decide to put him in his place by beating him, which made Azusa happy to be alive.

In the present, Yui is in the infirmary. After treating the wounds made by Azusa, the school doctor asks Yui where they came from and encourages her to seek his council. According to Reinhart, self-harm comes from pain in the heart. She thanks him. Immediately after, Azusa bursts into the room. Panting, Azusa says he didn’t know where Yui was inside the school. Reinhart comments that she’s loved. Azusa leads Yui out by the hand. He asks why she was in the infirmary, but Yui doesn’t want to say she was getting treatment. Then Azusa asks if the wound he gave her felt lonely. Yui isn’t sure how to reply, or how to deal with Azusa’s fixation on pain.

No.01

Azusa is late to pick up Yui, so he asks her to punish him. She tries to deflect by asking for the reason he was late, but Azusa knows better than to give a good excuse. Yui urges for them to go home. Azusa realizes that if they’re late, his brothers might punish him, too. As they walk, Azusa goes through different names for the wound he gave Yui. He grips her wounded hand tight enough to hurt, and says she’ll be happy if he can just find a good name. He asks her what she thinks about the name “Victoria”, since its very noble. She wants him to let go of her hand; but he says he wants an answer. Finally, she agrees to “Victoria.” Azusa asks for a reward. Wishing to "great the newly-named wound", he unties the bandages on her hand. Azusa sucks her blood and says that she must like the name because her blood is delicious. He intends to give her lots of wounds to name, so she’ll be even happier.

No.02

After school, Yui finds Azusa on the rooftop. After realizing he's climbing the fence to jump, she tries to stop him. He says he was going to jump to find out whether he was alive or dead. Yui tells him that he is alive; but still struggling with the concept, he asks her to prove it to him. He reveals a knife and asks her to kill him. Yui struggles with his circular logic: if he dies, then he's alive. She won’t do it. Azusa wonders why she likes irritating him, and if her "teasing," means she likes him. Both of them grapple with the knife; resulting in him accidentally cutting her. He can’t resist the scent of her blood; and concludes that savoring "the delicious taste," in itself gives "[him] proof of [his] existence, after all."

No.03

Yui, exhausted, sits in the classroom after school. Someone enters. Initially she thinks it's Azusa; but it's Kanato instead. Kanato continues from where he left off during their previous encounter. He tells Yui that she's betrayed them (the Sakamakis) by going with the Mukamis. He grabs her, and orders her to come with him. Yuki tries to apologize, but he cuts her off by threatening to give her "a horrible death as punishment". Azusa suddenly appears, snatching Teddy from Kanato's arms and flinging him out of the window. Kanato dives after Teddy. Azusa tells Yui that they'll use this as a chance to escape. While running, Yui comments in her mind on how rage-filled Kanato looked when Azusa flung the bear. She starts worrying about the consequences if Kanato managed to catch them, and decides that it is best to escape while they can.

Azusa and Yui eventually run into the library, and decide to catch their breath. Yui asks Azusa if they've managed to lose Kanato, and he replies that they should've, but they've got to remain hidden just in case. He suddenly tells Yui that he's glad that she came with him, and asks if she wants to return (with Kanato). Yui becomes confused. Azusa asks if she wants to again, leaving Yui unsure of how to answer. He then asks her if she thinks Kanato is better than him, but Yui insists that it's not like that. Azusa then asks Yui if she would like to return home together with him. She agrees. On their way back Azusa holds Yui's hand, but extremely tightly. The wound on Yui's hand has not completely healed yet. Azusa asks if she's happy that the wound hurts, and adds that if she is happy, he is too. He comments on how the sound of her voice is "wonderful to his ears" and he wants to hear more of it. To hear it more, he bites her.

No.04

Yui visits the infirmary for her hand, but finds it empty. Looking for Yui, Azusa appears soon after. She tells him she wanted to get the bandages on her hand changed. Azusa says he’ll wrap it for her. He praises the scarring on her hand, calling it "beautiful" and "clean." Yui doesn’t know how to respond, but soon he's done. Yui says he’s very good at wrapping bandages. Pleased by her compliment, Azusa says he’ll do anything she wants and draws a knife. He swings at her, and asks why Yui dodged. He wants to make her happy with some new wounds, which he’ll dress even better than the last. Yui pleads for him to stop multiple times. Yui's eyes fill with tears as she tells him she doesn't like this, so Azusa says that he doesn't feel like it anymore. He asks to suck her blood, because his throat feels dry.

No.05

Azusa and Yui take a walk. He comments that Justin and Christina have been talking to him, and Yui asks about that. Azusa asks if Yui doesn’t talk to her wound, and finds her strange. He reasons that she and her wound have a young relationship, unlike Azusa and his “good friends” who have been together for years. Yui realizes “talking” means the wound hurts, and Azusa asks why she suddenly looks unhappy. Azusa says he’ll have to cheer her up, and Yui tries to run because she knows what that means to Azusa. Azusa thinks they’re playing tag and catches her. Since he won, his reward is to drink her blood. Her circulation and breathing have gone up from running, so the quality of her blood is better than usual. Yui’s steps are unsteady and pained, so Azusa encourages her to lean against him. He asks if they can stay like this, and if it feels good. Again, he says they’re the same, so he knew she was lying about wanting to stop, and will cause her even more pleasure.

No.06

On the stairway at school, Yui is on her way to the rooftop, hoping to find Azusa there, but is caught by Kanato. Yui orders him to let go of her, but he refuses. He tells her he won't let this chance slip now that he's caught her. He orders her to come with him for her punishment. Yui struggles, but she soon loses her balance and starts to fall down until someone shows up. It's Azusa. He comments on how she had startled him when she fell and Yui thanks him for saving her. Kanato snaps at Azusa, telling him that Yui is his 'prey' and to release her immediately. Azusa replies, Yui already belongs to him. Kanato calls him a "ferocious thief." Azusa tauntingly asks Kanato, if he is "whining like a loser." Yui gets tensed up between the two; until the sound of a cellphone breaks the anxiety. Kanato sighs deeply and says that he'll draw back for now, since the caller seems to need him. He warns Yui that he'll capture her again before leaving.

After Kanato is gone, Yui sighs with relief. Azusa asks her why she's so relieved and she replies it's because she was scared that he would get injured. Azusa assures her that he won't lose to Kanato and asks if she's worried about him. When Yui says that she is, Azusa blushes and pauses. He suddenly pins her down. He tells her that she scraped her thigh and blood's coming out, and that he's happy that she's worried about him. However, he says he would be even more happier if she expressed her gratitude, by rewarding him. Azusa sighs that he failed helping her again and decides to lick the wound on her thighs as an apology. Yui finds herself unable to talk back and Azusa assumes that she's so enchanted by the fact that he's sucking her blood that she can't speak.

No.07

Yui is in the classroom. She thinks about how her wound has managed to heal, but she’s been lacking in sleep lately, when she’s suddenly approached by Kanato. He expresses surprise that she’s still alive, but then says Yui is only bait after all. Kanato explains he’s going to kill her in an awful way, either binding her or cutting her foot so she can’t walk. Yui runs away, despite his cries not to, and hides in the storage room.

She locks the door. In there, she hears a knock. Azusa calls for her to open the door, and to hurry up and hurt him. Yui doesn’t move, so Azusa breaks down the door. Yui apologizes but tells him not to come any closer. Azusa repeats her words, and says he understands; because Yui can hurt him, he’ll listen to her. He leaves without another word. Yui notices how said he looks, before he turns away.

No.08

Yui returns to the church where she was raised. Ever since the incident in the storage room, Azusa stopped monitoring her and she's been free to do whatever she wants. She starts feeling lonely since no one is around and the only kin she has is her father, who is currently overseas at work. Yui finds that being treated as bait and having her blood sucked isn't bad anymore and she wonders why she is still worrying about Azusa. Her thoughts are interrupted when a familiar voice exclaims her name. Yui turns around and is surprised to find herself face-to-face with her father, Seiji. Yui's eyes tear up with joy as Seiji tells her that he's relieved she's safe. He opens his arms and tells her come to him. Seiji continues saying that he felt troubled without her presence, but stops when he catches a scent coming from Yui. His mood changes as he says he's too late, then pulls out a gun and points it at her. He tells Yui to stay away from him and calls her filthy.

This shocks Yui. When she asks why, Seiji explains that he had been tricked into going overseas for work. Upon hearing that his daughter was in danger, he rushed back. He continues to say she is no longer his daughter, and he refuses to believe Yui's protests by questioning her about the scent that's coming from her body. He tells her she was different from other people, which was why he raised her by the Virgin Mary. Yui tries to speak, but Seiji tells her that she's been completely enthralled by the vampires and what he sees with his own eyes now is 'a vampire who has put on his daughter's dead skin'. Yui doesn't want to believe it, but she is aware of the different scents coming from her body and that is concrete evidence. Seiji fires his gun, but misses when Azusa suddenly appears and he pulls Yui out of the way. Seiji accuses Azusa for making Yui impure and corrupted, then says he will finish him off right here and right now. He fires his gun at Azusa and the bullet strikes his arm.

Yui panics when she sees his arm bleeding, but Azusa assures her with a smile that he's alright and he asks her to go home with him. Seiji interrupts, claiming that he won't let them escape so easily. He fires his gun again, but Azusa tells him to not get in the way, then grabs Yui and they run off. Sometime later, they are in the forest and Yui asks Azusa why he helped her back there. Azusa replies that she chose him (see his Dark Prologue), so it's his duty to protect her. Yui feels bad and tells him that if he didn't come for her, then he wouldn't have gotten injured like that. Azusa says that it's alright, since he likes pain. They eventually return to the Mukami mansion. Yui has no recollection of how they managed to get back; all she feels is pain lingering in her chest.

No.09

Ever since the encounter with her father, the words he had thrown at her continue to haunt her mind. Yui asks Azusa if she is a vampire, but he doesn't say anything. Yui also finds herself unable to stop crying, due to the shock that her own father called her a vampire. She changes the topic asking Azusa about his arm, but he assures her that he's fine. He then says that he's noticed that she's pained, but Yui says thanks to him, she's uninjured. This confuses Azusa who then says that if she's uninjured, why is she still crying and he bites her. Yui doesn't find it unpleasant being bitten like this. Azusa asks her where her wound is, so that he may lick it for her, but Yui tells him that even if she's not physically hurt people can still get injured. When Azusa doesn't understand, Yui explains that words, depending on a situation can injure one's heart.

Azusa then tells Yui that he understands what she just said to that extent, and reminds her that she's Eve. All he needs in this world is for her to exist. He tells her that even if her heart is in anguish, she still has a reason to continue living, and that is her meaning of existence. Azusa then says that he will not let her forget that and he will make sure that nothing will be unpleasant for her then continues sucking her blood. Yui thanks Azusa in her mind, then wonders why she doesn't seem to be so sad anymore despite the tears rolling down her cheeks. She embraces Azusa and comments on how she can feel his warmth spreading across her body.

No.10

The threat of Yui’s father is still out there, and thinking about him makes Yui wonder if it would be better to let him kill her. In the Mukami’s living room, Ruki asks Azusa about the status of Eve, and cautions him to never be apart from Yui because her death would be impossible to explain to Karl Heinz. Azusa weakly agrees. Ruki asks if he’s feeling sick, and Azusa brushes it off. He leaves quickly, puzzling Ruki.

Maniac No. 10

In her room, Yui can’t stop crying and thinking about her father, when suddenly something covers her eyes. Azusa tells her not to cry when she’s alone. He lets her go and points out, how her eyes are red. Yui explains she was remembering things about her father, but she’s not crying anymore.Despite feeling that crying is pointless, her tears still won’t stop. Azusa embraces her and explains that he’s been thinking about how blood must be tears of the heart, and he can understand her since he was lonely, too. He explains how he felt something when he saw the bodies of his bullies hanging on the gallows. He cried then, too. Azusa tells Yui that it’s okay to cry, but to please let him stay by her side while she does. She thanks him and apologizes.

He asks her why she’s sorry, and then suggests he suck her blood to make her feel good and distract her. He says he’ll be gentle, so she should surrender herself to his care. Her blood is sweeter than usual.

Epilogue

In a flashback monologue, Azusa remarks that he’s covered in bruises, but that he’s obtained his wish for proof. He’s made a habit of speaking to Justin, Christina, and Melissa, and thinks they soothe him, but he also wishes for more of them and has begun injuring himself. In the orphanage, Azusa is thinks he’s happy because he’s been hit a lot, until he notices that Justin has started to disappear. He opens the wound and begs it not to leave him again, until Yuma interrupts his frantic self-harming. Azusa asks if he’s the one who tried to take Justin away, but Yuma denies doing anything and he offers Azusa some bread. Azusa doesn’t understand and tries to reject the gift because he thinks Yuma will hate him for being friends with thieves, but Yuma doesn’t care about that. He even says he’ll bring some guys around to meet Azusa later. Azusa wonders why he was given bread if he has no value.

Maniac Epilogue

In the present, Yui wakes up to the sound of someone humming, and realizes she fainted after Azusa sucked her blood. Azusa apologizes for waking her. She asks what the song he hummed was called, but he doesn’t remember. Yui thinks about how she can empathize with Azusa, given what happened with her father. Azusa asks Yui to sing, too, so she sings something. He says her song is full of hope, and compares it to when he met Yuma; when he was young, he didn’t know what to do with the gentle warmth. He asks her to let him suck her blood, because she’ll feel what he means. Without hearing an answer, he bites her, and Yui doesn’t resist. Feeling warm and peaceful, Yui wonders what she is to Azusa.

Ecstasy[]

Prologue

In a flashback, Azusa is with Ruki, Kou and Yuma finalising their escape plans from the orphanage. Azusa says that he's definitely going, but Ruki tells him that he can't go because they're going; he has to decide himself. Hearing this, Azusa becomes hesitant and starts asking his 'Justin' wound for his thoughts. This irritates Ruki and he suddenly punches him across the face. When Kou asks him why he did that, Ruki replies that he was disappointed before asking Azusa what he thinks of them. He responds by laughing and he asks Ruki to punch him more, but Ruki calls it ridiculous and leaves. Azusa runs after him saying that he has already made up his mind; he will definitely escape the orphanage with them. Kou and Yuma follow suite. The flashback ends, and Azusa is confronted by Ruki who asks him if he understands what it means for a vampire to get shot (see Maniac No. 08) and why he didn't tell him earlier on.

The scene changes to the school hallway where Yui is musing over how Azusa sucked her blood the other day. In her mind, she doesn't find it unpleasant and finds herself becoming strange. Her thoughts are interrupted when Ruki approaches her, telling her that he has a request. Ruki tells Yui that he wants her to tell Azusa to 'give up' on his arm. This confuses Yui and Ruki explains that Azusa is still attached to his past, becuase he doesn't look at them the way he does with his 'friends'. Ruki had tried to warn Azusa several times, but he refuses to listen. When Yui still does not understand, Ruki explains that her father, the vampire hunter shot Azusa with a silver bullet. That means death to a vampire. Azusa's life can be saved, but only if he 'gives up' on his arm. However, Azusa refuses to do so because of his 'Justin, Melissa and Christina' wounds.

Ruki tells Yui that he's pleading her to convince Azusa otherwise. To him, he considers Azusa as a friend and family member since he had saved him from his past (see Ruki's Ectsasy Prologue). Ruki knows that he, Kou and Yuma can't be substitutes for Azusa's wounds and he tells Yui that he's relying on her. After Ruki leaves, Yui can hardly believe what she just heard. She eventually finds Azusa on the school roof. Yui tells him that she has something serious to discuss with him, but gets distracted when she sees how calm Azusa is. In her mind, she wonders why Azusa is laughing when it is a serious matter. She wouldn't be fine if he actually died. Her thoughts are interrupted when Azusa tells her that she's crying and he asks her if she got hurt. Yui assures him that she is fine, so Azusa starts telling Yui about his past instead. As Azusa is talking, Yui finds herself unable to tell Azusa about his arm when she sees how happy he is talking to his wounds.

No.01

In her room, Yui is wondering how to persuade Azusa to listen when he knocks on her door. Yui smells something delicious, and Azusa reveals he brought her the dinner she skipped. He made it himself; Yui thinks it looks delicious until Azusa dumps red pepper on it. Yui hesitates to eat and notices Azusa’s arm looks worse. Yui debates in her thoughts about what to do. Seeing her troubled face, Azusa speculates she might be down because she’s hungry. He insists on feeding her himself and shoves some of the incredibly spicy food into her mouth. Yui’s eyes begin to water, and Azusa insists that her pain means she must love it, and that physical pain allows one to forget emotional pain. He says he’ll give her more pain to forget her worries. Azusa licks her tears and praises the taste. He says tasting her tears makes him want to taste her blood, and drinks. Yui realizes he’s right about it distracting her, but thinks she has to tell him about his arm.

No.02

Ruki confronts Yui about being absent-minded as of late. She understands what Ruki is trying to say, but she understands how Azusa feels about his wounds, too. Azusa interrupts and asks if she’s been crying and if Ruki said something to her. Yui denies it, and Azusa concludes if it’s not Ruki, it must be him. He forcefully pulls her to him. Ruki tells Azusa not to be angry and reminds Yui to ask before he leaves.

Azusa questions what Ruki meant. Yui hesitates and finally lies that Ruki told her to clean the living room. Azusa remains suspicious, but Yui tries to distract him by asking about his butterfly knife. He explains why he bought it for his collection. To test the blade, Azusa asks Yui to stab him at the collarbone, citing the area’s difficulty to cut. Azusa says if it’s from Yui, it’s not painful to him, and calls her gentle when she says she doesn’t want to hurt him. Both of them are cut by accident, which Azusa takes as proof that they’re the same. Azusa sucks her blood and wishes he could take it all and become closer to her.

Ecstasy No. 03

In the bathroom, Yui examines her complexion; she’s worn out from lack of sleep. Azusa appears and asks her what’s wrong. He hugs her from behind and says her body is cold. Yui feels relieved from being held, until his hug tightens enough to hurt. In the mirror, she can see his arm is a mess, too, so she tries to speak up. Azusa cuts her off, saying he’s noticed her worries and he doesn’t want to hear her talk about something that hurts her. He seals her mouth with a kiss. Kissing turns to biting and sucking blood from her lips.

No.04

Yui wakes up early; she can’t sleep well with so much on her mind. She goes to the kitchen for a glass of water and hears a strange noise in the unlit room. Turning on the lights, she finds Azusa sharpening a kitchen knife. He explains that he’s training his senses, and shows off the blade. Yui asks him to please not do it in the dark because it’s dangerous, but he insists it’s not. He blindfolds Yui and tells her he’ll watch carefully as she tries it herself. Yui can’t do it. She asks him to remove the blindfold, but Azusa kisses her instead. He moves to sucking her blood without ever taking off the blindfold.

No.05

Yui tries reading because she can’t sleep, but she can’t concentrate because her mind keeps returning to Azusa’s arm. Azusa checks in on her, and decides to bring her hot milk as a sleep aid. Unfortunately, some of it accidentally spills on Yui’s feet. Azusa compliments the reddening of her pale skin and helps her by touching the burn. He says her red skin and blood will look beautiful and her skin is softened by the heat. Then he bites her foot. He comments that Yui’s gotten used to getting her blood sucked by Azusa, because she doesn’t tense up anymore.

No.06

On the balcony, Yui sees a beautiful star. She admits she’s being careless about Azusa’s arm, but she can’t bring herself to tell him yet. Azusa enters through the door and asks what she’s doing. He presses against her back and asks if she intended to escape from the balcony. Yui denies this. Azusa shows her a very pretty knife, and then stabs his arm. He asks if she thinks the blood looks pretty in the moonlight. Yui wants to call someone for help, but Azusa asks her not to disturb their time together. Azusa says she should suck his blood for a change, and forces his wound to her mouth to makes her taste it. He tries his blood too, but it’s not as good as Yui’s so he needs to remove the taste with her blood. Azusa cuts her arm to match and drinks. He tells Yui he wants to suck all of her blood, and she should suck his too so she won’t dry up. She reluctantly does so, and Azusa believes they can become one through sharing blood.

No.07

Yui thinks Ruki should be the one to tell Azusa after all, because he’s stubborn. She also thinks she didn’t mind smiling for him once, but she can’t stand watching him die any longer. Yui approaches Azusa as he’s making new “friends” by Justin. Azusa groans terribly, and Yui asks him to please stop. Azusa wants to know if she hates Justin. Yui confronts him about the bullet from her father. He asks if Ruki told her about it, and if she can say goodbye to his precious “friends.” Yui hesitates, and Azusa is relieved she can’t do it. He asks her to carve into Justin, but Yui doesn’t move. She tries to explain how she understands, but Ruki and the others are like his family, too.

Azusa grows hysterical. He bites her and sucks her blood. Azusa asks her if it hurts, and tells her he’ll stop if Yui promises to never say such things again. Yui refuses. Azusa tries strangling her, but lets her go when she still refuses to give in. He tells Yui he hates her and runs off. As she recovers her breath, Yui thinks that she’s sorry, but even more than not wanting to hurt him, Yui doesn’t want Azusa to die.

No.08

Azusa shuts himself in his room and refuses to leave. While talking to Yuma and Kou about Azusa’s self-harming behavior, Yui realizes Azusa doesn’t really want pain as much as he wants to be acknowledged. She attempts to break in by climbing through his balcony, but almost falls by accident. She is saved, but faints.

Once outside, Yui searches for Azusa until she encounters Seiji. He attempts to kill her, but he ends up shooting her in the arm just like he had done with Azusa. This angers Yui and she manages to get hold of Seiji's gun during a struggle. She tells her father that it was just as he had said; she's a vampire. Seiji shouts at her to stop, but Yui shoots him after telling him that she loves him.

Meanwhile, the Mukami brothers, including Azusa, are searching for Yui in the forest. They eventually find her and Azusa happily reunites with Yui. The brothers decide to allow them to run away together, and Azusa thanks his family, telling them he loves them as he bids farewell.

When he gets the report, Karlheinz says the vampire who obtains Eve’s love becomes Adam, suggesting that Azusa has or will become Adam after all. In the future, Azusa and Yui have a picnic with their children, who have the names of Azusa’s former bullies and wounds: Justin, Melissa and Christina.

Diabolik Lovers VANDEAD CARNIVAL[]

Chapter 1

Yui chooses Azusa to be her guard for the carnival. Several of the Sakamaki brothers question her choice, but Laito suggests that Azusa could protect Yui using himself as a shield, since Azusa likes pain. The Mukami brothers defend Azusa, and Yui affirms that Azusa is her choice. After they leave, Yui remains upset about how Azusa was treated, and Azusa apologizes for making her feel bad. To ensure Yui has a good time, he promises not to hurt himself.

Other vampires at the carnival increasingly linger around Yui, but they’re interrupted by Kou calling out to them. The other Mukami brothers caught up with them because they were worried. As reassurance, Azusa informs them of his promise to Yui. After parting ways from his brothers, they decide to explore the carnival.

Azusa vc (2)

Azusa needs an explanation for what a carnival is, and recalls how he visited one a long time ago. He ate a delicious food back then, but he doesn’t know what it was called. He and Yui decide to look for it. Azusa describes the food as fluffy and sweet. The first stall they try is ice cream, where Azusa chooses a bright red and spicy pepper flavor. Yui’s ice cream begins to melt as she watches him eat, so Azusa licks her hand to clean it. Ice cream isn’t the right dessert, however, so they keep looking.

Chapter 2

Azusa asks Yui not to be so concerned about him, but Yui doesn’t mind because she’s having fun with Azusa. A sweet smell leads them to a shop, but the shop assistant ignores Yui’s question about the scent. The assistant won’t answer to a human, so Azusa takes over. As the assistant fetches something, Azusa reassures Yui to not take the experience to heart. The assistant brings out pudding, and after Yui asks, Azusa says it’s the right food. He offers some to Yui, but she declines because she feels satisfied watching Azusa. He sprinkles pepper flakes on his pudding before he eats it.

Before they could decide where to go next, Azusa begins to feel bad. Something is wrong with him, so he runs off after telling Yui not to follow. Yui runs after him and enters a store, hoping to find him. She hears a noise and finds Azusa with a knife. He looks ill, but he apologizes to Yui. She worries he’s going to hurt himself. He doesn’t want to break their promise, so he tries to control himself, but then something changes. He says he won’t break their promise, and asks to use the knife to draw her blood. She agrees, because she knows Azusa is struggling and would rather she be hurt than him. He begs her to leave because he doesn’t want to hurt her, but his body isn’t listening.

Azusa vc (3)

Unable to control himself, he drinks her blood. As he does, Yui takes the knife away and accidentally cuts herself in the process. The scent of her blood begins to attract other vampires, so they move to a quiet place. Azusa bandages her wound and explains how he felt hot and heard a voice in his head. They think the pudding may have been the cause. He apologizes, and Yui forgives him because she knows he tried.

Chapter 3

On their way to the castle, a voice calls out to them. Azusa tells Yui to stay behind him. The man says he’s a fortune teller and would like to read Yui’s fortune. Azusa rejects this offer, but the man grabs Yui as they turn away and notices her injured hand. He insists she’ll find what she’s looking for. Azusa threatens the man with a knife to stay away from Yui. Before he leaves, the fortune teller informs them of a spring that can heal all wounds.

Azusa vc (6)

They decide to visit the spring. Yui tries to split up, and Azusa is surprised that they’re not getting in together. Yui explains that she’d be embarrassed. Azusa decides to watch while she goes in alone, but Yui declines, because that’s even more embarrassing. Confused, Azusa decides to enter the water alone and starts to strip. Yui slips as she turns a corner and falls in with Azusa. Azusa is pleased, but Yui is embarrassed before she notices her cut has healed.

Chapter 4

Having no reason to hurry to the castle anymore, Azusa and Yui decide to walk around the carnival again. They spy a crowd gathering at a stall and investigate. They discover Kou and Yuma playing the balloon popping game without success. Azusa and Yui play and win the prize: a knife polishing set. His brothers get jealous, and Azusa holds Yui’s hand and tells them she’s his. Kou and Yuma leave, but before Azusa and Yui go, the stall’s assistant gives them an additional participation prize of cotton candy.

Azusa vc (5)

Azusa thanks Karl Heinz, who shows himself. Karl Heinz admits to cursing the pudding to add excitement to their time at the carnival, but also to being the fortune teller who told them about the healing spring as an apology of sorts. Azusa confesses that the sweet and fluffy food they’d been looking for was actually cotton candy, and he lied because he didn’t want Yui to be sad. For the party, Azusa and Yui go to a shop and change their clothes. Azusa takes Yui’s hand and promises to give her happiness forever.

Sleeping Vampire

Diabolik Lovers DARK FATE[]

Prologue

In the Dark Fate Prologue, Azusa does not appear until Yui is walking home from school. (To choose the Mukami brothers’ routes, the player must select to go home on foot.) Yui originally walks and talks with a classmate, but after they part, Kou appears, followed by Yuma, and then Azusa. Azusa’s entrance is abrupt as he tells his brothers not to fight, and he apologizes for startling Yui. She says it’s fine.

Kou complains about how he wanted to walk alone with Yui, and Azusa mentions that’s what he intended to say. Azusa is silent as Yuma and Kou bicker about the danger, and Yui thinks about how she’s grown to enjoy being with the Mukami brothers. As they walk, they pass a park and Yui sees a wolf. Azusa notices Yui’s stare and asks what's wrong. She tries to explain about the wolf, but Azusa doesn’t see anything. The other two share their thoughts, and Azusa says there have been rumors about people seeing wolves in town. The group talks the possibility over, and Kou insinuates that he’d be a “wolf” in the sense that men are wolves. Azusa comments that Kou would be a small dog instead of a wolf. Kou demands an explanation, but they’re interrupted by Ruki. Azusa calls Ruki sly for holding Yui’s hand as they go home.

After dinner, Azusa says Ruki would make a good househusband. Yuma agrees that Ruki is skilled with cooking and cleaning, but argues that he’s better because he’s the strongest farmer. Kou replies that he’s the strongest idol. Azusa can’t come up with a strength for himself. Ruki warns everyone about the upcoming lunar eclipse, and the effects this will have on vampires is explained to Yui. Azusa recalls the last eclipse; he couldn’t smell, and his senses were dulled. A letter arrives about the Sakamaki brothers being attacked by wolves, and Ruki brings this news to everyone. Azusa mentions how Yui saw a wolf, and Yui says she saw one both at school and at the park. The demon world clans and the first bloods are explained. As the eclipse approaches, Shin and Carla transfer into the school.

Dark fate prologue

The Mukami brothers' strength and health decline, and as they gather in the morning, Azusa is the last to arrive. He looks ill, and says they won’t be able to defend against a surprise attack. After Kou agrees, they hear howls before wolves break through the windows. Yuma tells Azusa to take Yui to the basement and that they’re all counting on Azusa.

Azusa and Yui reach temporary safety behind the basement door, but Azusa decides he needs to go help his brothers. He gives Yui instructions to go to the Demon World alone. Wolves begin attacking the door, and Azusa says he’ll act as a decoy. He tells her to be safe and bids her farewell. After she leaves, the door breaks and Azusa is attacked by wolves.

Dark[]

Prologue

Yui turns around because she can’t leave Azusa behind, only to find the room empty but for Azusa’s blood on the floor. In the garden, Yui finds Azusa being attacked by more wolves. She intervenes despite Azusa’s protests. Shin hits Azusa and tells Yui that if she comes quietly, he’ll stop. Yui realizes who the wolves belong to and agrees. Shin refuses to let Yui treat Azusa’s wounds, however, and she realizes that he and the newly arrived Carla are First Bloods. Carla tries to grab Yui, but Azusa interferes and is injured again. Carla orders Azusa to be locked up, and Yui begs to go with him.

After they are locked up together in the Tsukinami’s dungeon, Yui bandages Azusa’s wounds. She discovers Azusa’s arm has necrosis from the gunshot wound he received from her father (see: MORE, BLOOD Maniac No. 8), and that his life is in danger. She entices Azusa to lie down by offering her lap as a pillow. As he rests, Yui asks if vampires have doctors. Azusa explains they don’t, but that Karlheinz does research with at a medical institute. Yui hopes he could cure Azusa. Later, as Yui sleeps, Azusa apologizes for being unable to protect her and wonders what to do about the founders.

Elsewhere, Carla and Shin discuss how Azusa must be one of Karlheinz’s “experiments” in turning human children into vampires. They decide to use Azusa to learn more about Karlheinz’s plans, and to give them a small amount of freedom.

No.01

Azusa and Yui are allowed to go to school. They try to escape while there, but Shin intervenes and pushes Yui down some stairs. Azusa breaks her fall, and feels happy that he protected her.

No.02

At school, their presence continues to be monitored. In the lab, Yui drops a glass jar. Azusa examines her injured finger. Azusa uses too much gauze to treat the small cut, and Yui suggests a small adhesive bandage instead. Azusa has a cut on his ring finger too, and their matching bandages look like wedding rings. Azusa makes a promise on her “ring” to live to protect her and never be separated.

No.03

While outside (and watched by wolves), Yui spies a pretty little flower and points it out to Azusa. Azusa wants to pick it, but Yui thinks that would be a shame. He admires how it’s living with all its strength, but he did want to put the flower in her hair. Then he says she doesn’t need it, because she’s already pretty. He pushes her down, kisses her, and asks to suck her blood.

No.04

It starts to rain as they’re walking home, so they take shelter in a church. Yui starts to sneeze, so Azusa takes off his shirt and drapes it over her shoulders. She’s still cold, so Azusa sucks her blood to warm her up.

No.05

Yui and Azusa go outside for fresh air. Azusa finds her a bench to sit on. He asks if he can hold her hand and if he can lean on her shoulder. He tells her how important she is and how he wants to protect her.

No.06

Azusa’s other wounds have healed, but his arm is getting worse. Shin appears to take Yui to Carla. He whips her in front of Azusa and taunts him. In his room, Carla pushes Yui on the bed for “purification,” and Yui tells him she’ll obey on the condition he lets the Mukami brothers go, or if he treats Azusa’s arm. Carla calls her strange, and sucks her blood.

No.07

In the bedroom, Yui wonders how long Carla plans to continue to suck her blood. Carla stops to comment on Azusa's arrival just before Azusa barges into the room and asks Carla what he's done to Yui repeatedly. Carla tells them to get out, and doesn't reply when Yui says his name meaningfully. She hopes he'll consider her request. In his room, Azusa curses aloud and demands to see the bite wound despite how Yui tries to hide it. She protests when Azusa asks if it's okay to suck her blood. He bares his fangs, but then decides not to forcibly take her blood the way Carla did. Azusa says he's different because he cares about Yui, and decides to lick it instead. After asking her if she likes him, Azusa makes her promise not to have her blood sucked. She lies and promises. Yui realizes the necrosis on Azusa's arm has gotten worse, so she runs away for help. Azusa calls himself weak and worthless because he can't do anything for her. He wonders if it's because he doesn't have enough power. Outside, Carla looks thoughtful.

No.08

Yui finds Shin and begs him to help Azusa's arm. Shin tells her he can't, so Yui asks to see Carla again. A cloaked man intrudes on their argument, and Shin tells the man to handle Yui, stating that he, being a vampire, should know more about Azusa's situation than Shin. Now alone with Yui, the man introduces himself as Merz. Merz inspects Azusa's arm and explains that it's very dangerous, explaining an old story about a vampire who died from a hunter's bullet that was left inside their chest. Azusa can be saved if his arm is cut off, but Azusa refuses. Merz says it's Azusa's decision, but warns Azusa again that he will die. After talking with Azusa, Yui asks him to please think about it and leaves to get some air. Alone in his room, Azusa again muses about how weak he feels, how he wants to protect Yui, and how he wants her to be only his Eve. He is interrupted by Carla, who says being powerless is shameful. Carla says that he can give Azusa power and to consider his offer before leaving.

Dark No.09 and No.10

No.09

In the Tsukinami living room, Yui asks Azusa if he's come to a decision. Azusa insists he can't lose an arm, regardless of how Yui pleads for him to live. She sadly wonders if the reason he won't let go of the arm is because of his "friends". Azusa changes the subject to how they need to escape as soon as possible, because he can't protect Yui here. Shin arrives to take Yui to Carla again, but before Yui can go, Azusa grabs her and draws a knife. He threatens to slit her throat if Shin insists on taking her away. Yui hopes this is the chance to escape that Azusa was talking about.

No.10

Shin asks Azusa if he's joking about killing Yui, but Azusa says he's serious. He assumes they need her blood, and that they'd be in trouble if she died. Shin asks Azusa how long he intends to keep him from moving, and Azusa whispers to Yui to close her eyes before they crash through the window. Azusa flies them away, but his condition is still deteriorating, so they land in a nearby church. Azusa apologizes for being unable to continue and disparages himself as weak. They hear a noise outside and fear that it's the pursuing familiars, but the church doors bang open to reveal Kou and Yuma. Azusa says he's glad to see them as he faints. Before they can leave, Shin and his wolves arrive. Yuma holds them off as Kou carries Azusa and leads Yui to safety in the Demon World.

Epilogue

A flashback to the past shows Azusa's increasing self-doubts and inferiority complex. This happened when he was still living with the gypsy family who took him in. He was sent to fetch a bucket of water, but he ended up tripping and spilled most of the contents. This angers the gypsy woman who retaliates by dumping the remaining water on Azusa. She tells him that he is a pitiful sight, and seeing him drenched is fitting for someone who is worthless like him before leaving to fetch another bucket of water. Some time later, the gypsy woman notices that Azusa has come down with a fever, and she cruelly scoffs that Azusa is so useless that he might as well not exist. Her children, Justin and Melissa agree with her, saying that they are indeed unfortunate to have taken someone like Azusa in. Azusa silently accepts their verbal abuse, because he can never avoid being called 'useless'. If that gypsy family had not picked him up off the streets, he would have been dead by now. He wants to show them his gratitude by being useful in return, but he's too frail, weak and can't even perform a task properly. He becomes convinced that everything about him is bad.

The flashback ends and Azusa awakens in one of the bedrooms in the castle. He finds Yui by his side and she expresses her relief that he's finally woken up. Yuma enters the room and tells Azusa that it's already been a week since both he and Yui escaped the Tsukinami's and they have successfully made it to the Demon World. Ruki enters the room and Azusa asks Yui to let him suck her blood until he notices that the arm with his 'Justin, Melissa and Christina' wounds is gone. This shocks Azusa and Yui apologises, telling him that it was the only way to save his life. Ruki explains to Azusa that he consented for his arm to be surgically removed, because the situation was urgent. Azusa requests to be alone. Outside, Ruki and Yuma assure Yui that Azusa will eventually return to his usual self and just needs time by himself to absorb everything that has happened just now.

Ecstasy[]

Prologue

Azusa questions his desire for strength and laments that he was unable to protect Yui who had just been snatched by the Tsukinami's. His thoughts are interrupted when Ruki suddenly appears and he punches Azusa across the face, causing him to collapse. Kou and Yuma arrive shortly. Yuma helps Azusa up as Ruki explains that he sent some familiars to spy on him, and they reported his activities (see Maniac 08). Ruki then shouts at Azusa to stop acting like a brat - inferiority, lack of strength and being weak is natural for both vampires and humans. He tells Azusa that he is always bound to find his weaker points if he keeps comparing himself to others. Everyone is weak alone, no matter how strong they may look. Ruki reminds him that they are together, because they are strong as a group. Azusa protests, but Kou and Yuma disagree. Yuma tells Azusa that he is their motivator, because they have always known him as surprisingly optimistic. Realizing how much his brothers have already acknowledged him, Azusa begins to cry, apologizing for trying to kill them and for losing himself because of his inferiority complex.

Azusa declares that he will use this resolve to go and save Yui, which shocks his brothers. He insists on going alone, but Ruki reminds him of what he said earlier - they are strong together as a group. The Mukami's then begin planning their strategy to save Yui. At the Tsukinami mansion, Yui is in Carla's room having her blood forcefully sucked by Carla. Yui desperately resists which earns her a slap across the cheek. Carla asks her why she's resisting, because when he first sucked her blood, she complied. She replies that it is different now, because she only allowed him to suck her blood at that time in order to help Azusa. Yui tells him that she has no reason to let him suck her blood again, but Carla tells her to give up, because Azusa won't be coming since he went against him. She persists that she has faith in Azusa since he refused to kill her (see Maniac Epilogue) prompting Carla to strangle her until the door bursts open and Azusa enters the room. Azusa tells Carla that he is done listening to him and orders him to release Yui. Kou and Yuma arrive with a battered Shin, followed by Ruki. This startles Carla who then attacks the Mukami brothers with his magic. Ruki, Kou and Yuma fend off Carla while Azusa grabs Yui and they escape via the window.

Azusa takes Yui to the church where he tells her about his resolve. He also apologizes for abandoning her and making her sad. Yui forgives him and they make up with a kiss, only to be interrupted when the rest of the Mukami's arrive. Ruki informs everyone that their mansion in the human world is vulnerable with things the way they are and suggests that they return to the Demon World before the Tsukinami's catch up to them.

No.01

Yui’s lingering injuries from the Tsukinamis cause her to break something. Azusa comes running to her side when he hears her cry out. Yui tries to hide it, but Azusa begs her to be honest with him even if he’s not reliable, because he loves her. Yui doesn’t think he’s unreliable at all, and she apologizes for hiding her pain. Azusa feels sad and wants to help her the way she used to help him when he was in pain. He uses the children’s rhyme, “Pain, pain, go away” on her wound. He also kisses her as another charm to feel better. Azusa says they’re not out of danger yet, but he wants to relieve some of her worries.

No.02

Azusa wakes up with bedhead, so Yui fixes it for him. Charmed by her gentle touch, Azusa pulls Yui back into bed and asks her to touch him more. Azusa thinks that if he gets more bedhead, she’ll fix it again. Yui is overwhelmed by how candid he is. Azusa calls her shy and kisses her, saying he’ll touch her, too. Their plans to go for a stroll in the garden are derailed.

As Yui can’t dance, she asks Azusa to teach her, but Azusa also never learned how to dance. They decide to learn together. Ruki lent Yui a book on dancing, so Yui starts reading about basic steps. As they take their positions, Azusa apologizes for how his form will be hindered by having only one arm. Yui adjusts herself to support Azusa’s arm better, but he wonders if she’s angry because they can’t follow the guidelines. They attempt to practice the steps, but a mistake causes Yui to fall and Azusa catches her. She thanks him for protecting her, but Azusa berates himself as pathetic and unable to support her. Yui asks if he’d consider allowing her to support him, too, as the one she loves. Reassured, Azusa thanks her and gives her a kiss.

Outside their room, Ruki hesitates before he enters. Ruki asks Azusa to deliver an envelope to the Sakamaki family. Azusa leaves, and Ruki takes his place in practicing steps with Yui. Ruki tells her to separate herself from Azusa, because Azusa cannot become Adam to her Eve. Yui protests that she and Azusa want to be together, but Ruki explains that they can’t be happy together. He wants them to separate for Azusa’s sake. Yui is distraught, but she recognizes that Ruki is worried. Azusa returns from the errand, and Ruki trades places with him again. Azusa notices that something is wrong, but Yui hides what happened. She thinks about how she can’t let Azusa know about Ruki’s request, and that she’s pretending it didn’t happen. Yui can’t believe that they won’t be happy together.
